Jerry E. Huelat
Founding Partner
Jerry E. Huelat has over 41 years of litigation experience in all areas of insurance defense. Having tried more than 130 cases in front of a jury, he has substantial trial experience in the areas of arson, fraud, products liability, construction, wrongful death, premises liability, municipal liability, Title VII claims, bad faith, insurance coverage, contractual indemnity, and complex litigation. Mr. Huelat was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 7, 1953, and graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1977. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Northern Illinois University in 1981 and was admitted to the Indiana bar that same year. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals, the Seventh Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. Mr. Huelat is a member of the La Porte County and Indiana State Bar Associations, where he formerly served on the Legal Ethics Committee. He is also a member of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, and is a Past President. Mr. Huelat is also the author of many articles and a regular lecturer at insurance defense seminars. He received the 2016 Diplomat Award from the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, and has been selected as an Indiana Super Lawyer for the last eleven years.
Beverly J. Mack

Beverly J. Mack has 33 years of experience concentrating in insurance defense litigation. She is licensed to practice law in both Indiana and Illinois. Ms. Mack was born in Olney, Illinois, on July 25, 1961. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1983, and obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1989. Ms. Mack was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1989 and to the Indiana bar in 1996. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois, the Northern District of Indiana, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Ms. Mack is currently a member of the Indiana State and Illinois State Bar Associations, the La Porte County Bar Association, the Women Lawyers Association of Indiana, where she is a past Treasurer, and the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana where she is a member of the Board of Directors.
David A. Mack

David A. Mack has been practicing law for 31 years. He is licensed to practice law in both Indiana and Illinois. Mr. Mack was born in Shelbyville, Indiana, on December 2, 1965. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Indiana University in 1988 and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University in 1991. He was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1991 and was admitted to the Indiana bar in 1994. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. In addition to insurance defense, Mr. Mack has a broad range of general practice experience, including appellate practice, bankruptcy, estate planning, probate, family law, and general litigation. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, and the La Porte County Bar Association.

Robert J. Penney was born in Lafayette, Indiana, on November 18, 1971, and was admitted to the Indiana bar in 2001, the Ohio bar in 2003 (inactive), and the Illinois bar in 2012. He is also admitted to practice in the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. Mr. Penney attended the University of Illinois, Urbana, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in Political Science in 1993 and was made a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated with an M.A. in Political Science from UCLA in 1997, and obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 2001.
